Anundoram Borooah Award Programme
The first Assamese public servant was Anundoram Borooah. An award programme called the Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme was introduced by the Assam government in 2005. This plan is commonly referred to as the ARBAS plan. The government attempted to improve education through the ARBAS system by instilling competition among students, and pupils were encouraged as a result of this reward programme. This programme, which has never been associated with any corruption in Assam’s history, has motivated many children to do better on their HSLC exams.
