 Qualification, Other Criteria

Graduate Teacher (Arts)

  • Education:
    • Graduate or Post Graduate in Arts/Commerce from a recognized university.
    • Minimum of 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent).
    • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from an NCTE recognized institution.
  • Valid Institutions:
    • Degrees from institutions outside Assam with unrecognized study centers are not valid.
    • Valid degrees from KKHSOU, IGNOU, IDOL (Gauhati University), and Distance Education (Dibrugarh University).

Graduate Teacher (Science)

  • Education:
    • Graduate or Post Graduate in Science from a recognized university.
    • Minimum of 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation (or its equivalent).
    • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from an NCTE recognized institution.
  • Valid Institutions:
    • Similar to the Arts criteria regarding valid and invalid institutions.

Graduate Teacher (Hindi)

  • Education:
    • Pravin/Ratna in Hindi with at least 50% marks, or
    • BA with 50% marks and Hindi as one of the subjects, or
    • Post Graduate in Arts with 50% marks (with a BA including Hindi with 50%).
    • B.T./B.Ed. degree from a recognized university.
  • Valid Institutions:
    • As per the guidelines mentioned above for other subjects.

Graduate Teacher (Sanskrit)

  • Education:
    • Shastri with 50% marks and a degree qualification with 50% marks, or
    • BA with 50% marks and Sanskrit as one of the subjects, or
    • Post Graduate Degree in Arts with 50% marks in Sanskrit.
    • B.T./B.Ed. degree from a recognized university.
  • Valid Institutions:
    • Criteria similar to those outlined for the other subjects.

These criteria are governed by the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) (Amendment) Service Rules, 2021.

Medium Instructions

  • Assamese Medium:
    • Must have passed HSLC or equivalent with Assamese as one of the subjects.
    • Alternatively, must hold a Diploma in Assamese issued by Axom Sahitya Sabha.
    • Candidates should have studied up to HSLC level in an Assamese Medium School.
  • Bengali Medium:
    • Must have passed HSLC or equivalent with Bengali as one of the subjects.
    • Must hold a certificate in Bengali issued by Barak Upatyaka Bangya Sahitya Sanskriti Sammitan.
    • Candidates should have studied up to HSLC level in a Bengali Medium School.
  • Hindi Medium:
    • Must have passed HSLC or equivalent with Hindi as one of the subjects.
    • Alternatively, must have studied up to HSLC level in Hindi Medium Schools.
  • Bodo Medium:
    • Must have passed HSLC or equivalent with Bodo as one of the subjects.
    • Candidates should have studied up to HSLC level in a Bodo Medium School.
  • English Medium:
    • Must have passed HSLC or equivalent with Alternative English as one of the subjects.
    • Candidates should have studied from Class XI onwards in English Medium Schools.

Note: For recruitment as teachers for Mother Language (MIL) subjects, candidates who passed HSLC with a specific MIL subject will be considered.

Other Criteria

Nationality

  • Eligibility: Candidates must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam.

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 38 years (as of January 1, 2023)
