The benefit of reservation under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category can be claimed by presenting an Income and Asset Certificate issued by the appropriate authorities. Here are the key points regarding the issuing and verifying authorities:

- Verification Process:
- The certificate must be issued by the designated authorities from the list provided in the prescribed format.
- The officer issuing the certificate must carefully verify all supporting documents according to the prescribed process.
- Crucial Date for Submission:
- The crucial date for submitting the Income and Asset Certificate will typically be the closing date for receipt of the application unless otherwise specified.
- Verification Clause in Appointment:
- The appointing authority must include a clause in the offer of appointment, stating that the appointment is provisional.
- The clause should specify that the appointment will be subject to verification of the Income and Asset Certificate.
- If the certificate is found to be fraudulent, the services will be terminated immediately without further explanation, and legal action may follow as per the Indian Penal Code.
- Verification of Certificate:
- The appointing authority should verify the authenticity of the Income and Asset Certificate through the relevant issuing authority.
This ensures that candidates claiming the EWS benefit have their claims properly verified before final appointments are made.
Important points regarding appointment by the EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) category:
- Unfilled EWS Posts:
- If all posts reserved for EWS candidates are not filled due to a shortage of eligible candidates, the remaining vacancies will be filled by candidates from the unreserved category.
- EWS Candidates in Reserved Quotas:
- If an EWS candidate is selected under the quota for persons with benchmark disabilities or ex-servicemen, they will be placed against the roster points earmarked for EWS.
- Competing for Unreserved Vacancies:
- A person belonging to the EWS category cannot be denied the right to compete for appointments in unreserved vacancies.
- If EWS candidates are selected based on merit and not due to reservation, they will not be counted towards the EWS reservation quota.
