The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification for JNVST 2026-27 for Class VI admission. This selection test identifies talented students for admission into Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), which are fully residential schools established by the Government of India. JNVs provide quality education and various facilities to meritorious students, especially from rural and economically weaker sections. Eligibility Criteria – Assam JNV Class VI Admission 2026
District Eligibility :
  • Only candidates from the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located are eligible to apply.
Age Limit:
  • Candidates must be born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016 (inclusive of both dates). This is applicable to all categories.
Current Study Requirement:
  • The candidate must be studying in Class V during the entire academic session 2025-26 in a Government or Government-recognized school in the same district where admission is sought.
Admission in Class V:
  • Candidates must have been promoted and admitted to Class V before 31st July 2024. Otherwise, they are not eligible.
Attempt Restriction:
  • Only one attempt is allowed. Candidates who have appeared in JNVST previously are not eligible to apply again.

What is Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) ?

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) for admission into Class VI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). Due to limited seats, the JNVST is used to identify and select meritorious students. Admission is granted solely based on the marks obtained in the JNVST.
